2024 Love of Learning Award Recipient

Maryam Berijanian has been selected as a recipient of this year’s Love of Learning Award. Each year, through a competitive process, Phi Kappa Phi distributes two hundred Love of Learning Awards, at $1,000 each, to members who have completed their bachelor’s degree, for the purpose of continuing their studies or professional development.

Maryam Berijanian is a Ph.D. student, specializing in Generative AI, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. 

She has achieved a 4.0 GPA and received several prestigious recognitions, including the Engineering Distinguished Scholar fellowship from MSU. In 2024, Maryam achieved 2nd place in the IEEE WIE Global Tech Marathon and was recognized for Best Originality/Creativity in the Advanced Category at the AI Hackathon organized by ACCESS Support (NSF). 

She holds dual B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, as well as an M.Sc. in Robotics and Mechatronics. Before joining MSU, she was a researcher at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, where she focused on computer vision and deep learning.

Maryam will be using funds from the Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award to attend a conference in the AI or technology field, such as AAAI or Grace Hopper, which can be greatly beneficial for her professional and career development.
